Creativitity Show Episode 1...from 2006!

Note: I recorded this on June 7, 2006 and forgot about it until I found it today. Finding this piece of audio reminds me how much I wanted to create a show like this to accompany the blog. If I can balance all the other UNPAID projects I've got going with the PAID ones, I'd love to revive this idea. Anyways, the player is above and the show notes are below.

Topic: Podcasts I listen to:

-Jaffe Juice: low-quality, good content, keeps asking for audio comments, creates debate about the lack of audio comments,

-CNET's Buzz Out Loud: If you're making a show about a topic your passionate about and that your audience is passionate about, there's no need to make the show sound smooth or like radio. When they make a verbal mistake, they draw attention to it and turn the show from "news" to giggle-fest. I think removing Veronica Bellmont would be a good thing for the show.

-New York Times Front Page: It influences me to buy the print edition. The show could be a lot longer. It goes through the entire newspaper, which shares headlines in sections I would never read, which makes me want to check out the sections in more detail.

-Diggnation: I think it's relevant. It's an extension of the website. The hosts are charming. They film the video podcast then take the audio from that to create the audio podcast.

-NPR Technology: Why are all the hosts black?

-Blog Relations: the host takes you to meet-ups and talks about great marketing stuff

-SXSW Recorded Sessions: fascinating panel talks

So I've listened to a piece of audio I found on orlandoinfo.com that just told me to go to orlandoinfo.com for information.

Wow.

The Big Problems:
-The theme song is too long
-It's WAY short on tips and content in general
-ANYone could make this content and I hope Orlandoinfo.com is not paying a lot for this piece of junk.

Audio vs Video Podcast

(35:00) My techie friend Ryan Price and I debate audio vs. video, the value of Google ads, the value of not having your content be time-sensitive and other topics. We both really want to have our own tech podcast to discuss things like this on a weekly basis, but neither of us has the time. So it was fun to record this conversation right in the moment it was happening.

Myspace bulletin podcast player

So here's a shortcut for sending out customized podcast announcements on myspace through the use of bulletins. You send out a flash player with a few helpful links so people who open the bulletin can listen to the episode in the bulletin without having to go anywhere else. If they like what they hear, they can click on the subscribe buttons below it or on the link to the show's blog or website.

1. Use the Podcast Pickle Player and size it to 500 by 60 pixels.

2. Add a graphic above the player with your show and episode title, as well as episode info and length.

3. Below the player, add links to itunes, rss and the show's blog or website.

4. Below that, place the podcast producer's logo, linked to their website.

5. Always include a repost box just in case someone wants to share the player with their friends.
